Zune HD spotted at CNET

Microsoft was kind enough to swing by the CNET offices yesterday and offer us a sneak peak at the new Zune HD. Although the company has been tight-lipped on certain aspects of the device, such as pricing (and wouldn't let us record any first-hand evidence of the onscreen interface), we were able to get some face time with the product, and you know what that means: plenty of fun facts, first impressions, and fabulous photos. Plus, you may even get to see Senior Editor Donald Bell cry tears of joy.

Samsung working on a Zune HD-killer?
A portable media player with a 3.3-inch OLED touch screen and an Nvidia Tegra chipset? Sounds familiar. Nope, we're not talking about the Zune HD. This is the Samsung M1, a PMP that officially popped up on the company's Korean site this past Friday. Read more

Steve Guttenberg Poll: What's wrong with high-end audio?
Steve Guttenberg
I know what's wrong with high-end audio, it's a secret. Unlike high-end cars, watches, clothing, etc., 99 percent of potential high-end audio buyers are completely unaware of its existence. It's interesting, as car magazines regularly plaster shots of cars that only a miniscule number of readers could ever buy, apparently because guys who drive Dodge Caravans love to read about Ferraris. Even the New York Times runs fawning features about the glories of exotic cars and not a peep about high-end audio. Read more

Comfortable and durable on-ear headphones
Posted by Annonymous
I have been digging through the CNET Web site for a perfect set of on-ear or over-the-ear headphones for listening to music on the subway--but I just can't find a pair that fits all my needs. I'm not an audiophile, but I do need the headphones to be comfortable for extended listening, durable (head band that won't snap easily), and portable (not too bulky). Since I am using them on the subway, it'd be great if they offer some kind of noise cancellation (passive or active, whichever). And I'm a student, so I'm working with a budget of around $100.  Read more
