Windows 7, netbook support in the works for Windows Home Server
Mary Jo Foley: The Windows Home Server (WHS) team announced on July 17 that its next update -- slated to go to testers on July 17 -- will add support for Windows 7 clients and netbooks.

Microsoft releases Dryad concurrent-programming code to academics
Mary Jo Foley: It's been two years since Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates talked up Dryad, Microsoft's concurrent-programming competitor to Google's MapReduce and Apache Hadoop. But this week, Dryad was back on the radar screen, with Microsoft's release of the Dryad code to academics and researchers.

Yahoo and Microsoft: If at first you don't succeed...
Mary Jo Foley: Reports are flying yet again that Microsoft and Yahoo are close to finalizing a search/advertising partnership. Is a multi-billion-dollar search partnership between the two finally going to happen? If it is, next week would be a great time for Microsoft to announce it.
