Microsoft agrees to give choice of browsers to Windows 7 users in Europe
Mary Jo Foley: Microsoft is willing to give Windows 7 users in Europe a choice of browsers, rather than simply no browser. The European Commission announced on its Web site on July 24 that Microsoft has now proposed as part of settlement talks to allow the "ballot screen" to be included in Windows 7.

Microsoft removes Mac price reference from Apple-aimed ad
Mary Jo Foley: Advertising Age is reporting that Microsoft has edited one of its Laptop Hunter ads so that it no longer specifically mentions Apple's Mac pricing.

Mary Jo Foley: One of the questions that no analyst asked directly during Microsoft's post-FY09 Q4 earnings call this week was one very much on Microsoft employees' minds: Will Microsoft cut more jobs as a way to improve its numbers for the next calendar quarter or two?
