	I need a backup solution for digital photos while traveling overseas Dear CNET members, Happy Friday! Tomorrow I'm off to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, for a week of family fun in the sun, so there will be no newsletter delivery next Friday as I will be deep in Margaritas and joining the local Mariachi band for some music runs (just kidding, but I really wish I could). However, I will be thinking of you all and sending you some Mexican fun and love! Speaking of traveling, this week's topic of discussion is finding a solution for Jane, who will be going on a European trip for three weeks with her friends and would like to find a device on-the-go that will be able to read multiformat digital media cards and store them. That way she could not only get a collection of all her and her friends' digital photos, but also keep them backed up. Well, Jane, you asked and your fellow members delivered! We got a lot of suggestions and a variety of recommended solutions from our members this past week and the most popular recommendations that rang in was using a Netbook or laptop. While this is my own personal solution, it depends on how lightly you will be traveling. Others suggested portable storing and viewing devices such as the ones you mentioned in your question or using multimedia players. Others simply recommended that your bring a multimedia card reader, some extra recordable DVDs, and stop by from time to time at cyber cafes and back up photos from your friends' cameras and yours. Some folks even recommended online backup solutions granted that you have time to stop by cyber cafe with your friends to do all the uploading. There are many possible solutions to your question, so please read all the suggestions in this week's topic thread and I'm sure someone has a solution that fits you the best. I would like to be able to download their photos to one backup storage device so we can capture a composite of all of our photos and make a book of our vacation together and keep them backed up just in case. I am considering either the Picture Porter Elite or the Colorspace UDMA hard-drive-type devices. I would appreciate any advice regarding either of these backup devices or others I might consider.
