A week of acquisitions by Amazon, Yahoo, Nokia

 If you thought leaner times meant fewer acquisitions, you thought wrong. This week was privy to a flurry of big companies buying smaller ones. Here's the breakdown:    On Tuesday  Amazon acquired Zappos . Amazon agreed to a stock takeover of the Las Vegas-based online retailer that has become famous for its unusual corporate culture. The deal, which was confirmed on Wednesday, went down for around $807 million worth of Amazon company stock.    On Wednesday  Yahoo agreed to acquire Xoopit , a start-up that helps people share content from their in-boxes with social-networking sites such as Facebook. Terms were not disclosed, but the deal is rumored to be around $20 million.    On Friday,  Nokia signed an agreement to acquire Cellity , a small German company that creates social-network contact management and address book aggregation services for mobile devices.

Smart acquisitions for Amazon, Yahoo and Nokia

If you thought leaner times meant fewer acquisitions, you thought wrong. This week was privy to a flurry of big companies buying smaller ones. Here's the breakdown:
