Microsoft, Yahoo partner up

Silicon Valley's worst-kept secret was confirmed today when Yahoo and Microsoft announced a 10-year deal that is intended to knock search leader Google down a few pegs. Microsoft will incorporate Yahoo's search technology, including its Panama ad-selling tool, but the companies will use Microsoft's AdCenter sales tool and Bing search engine to power both sites. The market's reaction? Yahoo stock slipped to about $16 per share, roughly half the amount Yahoo turned down from Microsoft 18 months ago in a buyout bid. Any regrets?
