Poll Everywhere = cure for the laptop wall
OK, it's not a cure, but this slick web application is one way to get students engaged and using their laptops, handhelds, and cell phones in class for something other than updating their Facebook status during a lecture.
Can Moblin wean universities from Microsoft?
I read a very interesting email today that came through the Moblin developers list serve. It resonated with another comment I received from yesterday's post on university IT. Both related to a "forced diet" of Microsoft products in many universities and the role that open source software can play in students' lives.
Microsoft making Bing safer for schools
It didn't long for people to discover that a single click on the search filter settings in Bing made porn clips available right from within the Bing search page. I like to call it "porn-in-a-portal."
