The entryway, the mudroom, the trunk. Summer gear deserves a real system too. ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏
Summer has a way of accumulating: sunscreen by the door, bags that never quite get unpacked, gear that's technically put away but never actually findable when you need it. The homes that move easily through summer aren't the ones with less stuff. They're the ones where the outdoor stuff has a real place to land.

The first and last place you touch on the way in and out. A hook for the bag, a bin for the shoes, a basket for the things that need to be grabbable on the way out the door. Keep it simple — the entryway works best when the system is obvious enough that everyone uses it without being asked.

If you have one, summer is when it earns its keep. Bins for wet things, baskets for sports gear, a dedicated spot for everything that shouldn't come further into the house. Zone by person or by activity. Either works, as long as it's consistent.

The most underrated organizing space in a summer household. A bin or two in the back means the frisbee, the blanket, the hiking shoes, and the sunscreen are always with you. No repacking, no last-minute searching, just grab and go.
