Worth the effort

• Give backpacks one spot. A hook or bin at kid-height means it lands there, not on the floor.

• Corral the paper trail. A labeled folder per kid catches school papers before they scatter across the counter.

• Keep the car under control. One thing out, one thing put away, every time you step out to keep the afternoon mess from spreading past the house.

NEAT Tip: The same rules apply whether it's a backpack or a laptop bag. A designated landing spot, one place for loose papers, works for anyone's after-school (or after-hours) routine.
